A bad poker experience.

So I am sitting playing eight tables of 600NL trying to get out of the huge hole I am in for the month. I am down $15k for the month and more or less break even for over two weeks now. I am down $6k for the day. I am not in a good mood.

A pair of semi bad players are mouthing off as usual. Then one of them hits a bad draw.

The other one says:

"I hope someone rapes your children."

...

The line of work I have chosen is somewhat fucked up.

Hi Kristian,

Sorry to hear about your recent poker woes. I am a (semi)pro donkey so I totally agree that sometimes things can seem pretty messed up in our chosen occupation.

Obviously these things loom larger in your mind when going through a bad run, and although professional players are meant to keep on an even keel win or lose, we all know this usually isn't the case.

I get excited when I have a good day, and grumpy when I lose, watching high stakes in the televised big game shows that all those name players do too albeit with higher thresholds of pain.

People say (and do) awful things to each other in many areas of life, I reckon you should simply switch the chat off so you are no affected by it, especially when multi-tabling.

Now, if I could only manage to follow my own advice...

Your hard work and determination will pay off, just take a few days break and come back with a fresh perspective. Good luck,

Matt.

Hi Matt

Thanks for your comments. I didn't know it was possible to be a professional donkey :).

Btw, I came across this well written article on the hard life of poker players: http://www.thepokerchronicles.com/archives/000947.html

Hey Kristian,

Mikkel fra RHK her. Du ved det garanteret selv, men jeg skriver det alligevel. LYder som om du grinder alt for hårdt. Tag en 2-dages pause og gå ud og brug penge. plejer at hjælpe med at cleare hjernen lidt.

That might have been my old roommate, I was always floored by some of the stuff they wold type and the tables. You would never say that to someone's face.

Sorry about your slump. Maybe you shouldn't blog when you should be paying attention to the game.

Heh, just kidding.
